On completion of this unit, course participantswill have the knowledge and application skills instudying and serving wine and be able to applythem at the workplace.

• Describing basic factors affecting wine style, flavour, quality and price;
• Applying basic techniques to taste, examine and evaluate wine;
• Listing major international grape varieties and their characteristics;
• Identifying various considerations related to the consumption of alcoholic beverages;
• Describing guidelines for pairing wine with food; and
• Presenting, opening, decanting and serving wine.
