About this Course

Preparatory Course in English (PCE) is designed to help students who have some fluency in using English but may have little confidence in using English academically. The course focuses on equipping students to be fluent and confident in using English, to the end that they can progress to tertiary courses taught in LSBF.

Students will build solid foundation in speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as grammar, structure and vocabulary. Preparatory English and Academic English are the key themes of this course.

At the end of the course, students can expect to achieve a level of confidence and expertise in using English in an academic environment and in public.

Target Audience

Preparatory Course in English (PCE) is designed for students who want to learn English in Singapore, regardless of their current language level. Our experienced tutors will provide our students with a well-rounded blend of general, academic and professional English, making the programme particularly relevent if they aspire to work or study further in an English-speaking country. To enrol, students must be at least 16 years old.

CERTIFICATE AWARDED

Upon completion of the programme, students will receive a Certificate of Achievement awarded by LSBF.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

16 years old and above

Preparatory Course in English (PCE) is offered to both local (Singaporean) and foreign students who have completed at least year 10 of their high school education and are interested in pursuing a tertiary education in English at LSBF's School of English and/or other international education service providers around the world. All potential students are required to sit for a placement test to ascertain their proficiency levels before admittance into the course.

Students who have completed the Foundation Course in English will be eligible to join the Preparatory Course in English (PCE) intermediate level. 

Placement Test

An English Placement Test (EPT) is to be administered at London School of Business & Finance premise to determine the respective levels the students qualify for.

Students who are in their country of origin are required to sit for 2 EPT. Students who have taken the EPT at the Recruitment Agent’s Office at their country of origin will need to take a second EPT which will be conducted at London School of Business & Finance premise. Only the latter test will determine the final level of English that the student qualify for.

Classes will be held 5 days / week (5 hours for each day)

Upon completion of our Preparatory Course in English, students will have the language skills they need to work in any English-speaking business
