Hair Perming (Modular Course)

  

About this Course

This course is endorsed by ITE and catered to participants with the necessary skills to perform hair perming and rebonding and are interested in joining the hairdressing industry as a Hairstylist that could carry out hair perm.

Course Outline

The hair perming (modular course) comprise of the following:

Perming

  • Students are trained to understand the impact of a good hair perm and the physical and chemical action of perming, the factors to be considered in selecting perm rods and lotions, the properties of hair, and the methods of performing porosity, elasticity, and incompatibility tests on hair, the purpose, composition and effects of pre-softening application and neutralizer on the hair, the methods of perming hair and the technique of performing haircurling (cold wave, hot wave).

Perming Faults

  • Students are trained to identify the characteristics and causes of over-processed and under-processed hair and the corrective measures that can be taken and to rectify perming faults.

Hair Rebonding (Hair straightening)

  • Students are trained to understand the types of products used for hair straightening and their chemical action, the guidelines and techniques of hair straightening, the function of neutralizer, types of conditioners and their methods of use and the technique of performing hair rebonding.

Classroom Duration – 120 Hours

24 Days (Mon – Fri, 10am – 4pm or 4pm – 10pm)

Course Commencement Date

Courses will commence on every 1st and 15th of every month.

Certificate Conferring Body

Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded the NITEC in Services Module Certificate by Institute of Technical Education (ITE).

Graduates progression pathway is subject to the respective Institutions’ entry requirements at the point of application.

Foreigner’s application for jobs in Singapore is subject to the approval from the Ministry of Manpower of Singapore (MOM). MDI DOES NOT GUARANTEE any success rate of approval.

Entry Requirements

Local course participants must possess any one of the following entry requirements in order to be eligible for Nitec Examinations.

  1. Complete GCE ‘N’ level or any equivalent qualifications approved by ITE.
  2. Entry Test by ITE (Test fees are paid to ITE). Applies to course participants that do not have the above qualifications.

Other than the mentioned pre-requisites, the students should also have the following:

  • Students must be able to read and write in English or Chinese. Other cases will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
  • Students should be of a minimum of 18 years of age to be eligible for the courses.
  • For foreign students, relevant passes are required.

Graduation Requirement

Students are required to meet the following criteria in order to graduate and obtain their relevant certificates:

  • For each module, the score obtained from end-of-module assessment contributes to the final score.
  • For the overall practical assessments, they must cover at least 75% of the competencies in each module.
  • The pass mark of a module is 50%. Candidates are also required to pass all critical skills/criteria in the Skills Standard.
